Dismissal Policy |
Regular school dismissal begins at 2:20 on the blacktop. Should your child require a change to their regular dismissal routine, the school must be contacted. If the school or teacher is not contacted, the child will dismiss as regular. If your child requires an emergency early dismissal, the following are safety steps for documentation:
*The emergency dismissal deadline is 2:00pm. Any pickup after 2:00pm will be redirected to the blacktop for regular dismissal times starting at 2:20pm. |
Attendance Policy |
The Waterbury Board of Education requires all students to attend school and receive instruction consistently. If your child must be absent from school, please contact the school via Parent Square and/or by phone. An absence note (digital or hard copy) explaining the child’s absence is required. Students are expected to make up missed work due the absence within 3 days of returning to school. It is expected for all students to have no more than 8 total absences in one school year. Acceptable reasons for absence include illness, incapacity, doctor visit, religious holiday, court appearances, funerals, suspensions, and special activities approved by parent/guardian. Any student whose combined excused and unexcused absence exceeds 20 days automatically receives a grade of incomplete for all subjects. Failures due to absences may be appealed to an Appeals Board. Appeals must be made within 5 days of the issuance of the report card and is the sole responsibility of the parent/guardian of the student. Tardiness/Early Dismissal: A student is considered tardy or dismissed early if not in class when the bell rings. Students will lose academic credit for time lost due to tardiness/early dismissal. |
